April 1st Connemara Marathon

Comprising of a Half Marathon, a Full Marathon and a 39.3 mile Ultra Marathon all taking place on the one day in late March or early April. Running is transformed for runners and walkers in the dramatic setting of mountains, glacier lakes, rugged green-brown landscape that winds in and around the challenging mountain wilderness of Connemara. The course meanders past bogs, hills, lakes, and the Twelve Bens Mountains rising up over Killary Lough, through the quiet village of Leenane, around the Maam Turk Mountains and all the way back up to Maam Cross. International participants enjoy the Irish welcome, the sense of comradeship on the lonely route and unmistakable buzz throughout the day.

May 12th Connemara Adventure Challenge

The race will take the format of Gaelforce West with 3 disciplines; trail/mountain running (walking and jogging also accepted!), Kayaking and cycling.

The Connemara Adventure Challenge is almost half the distances of Gaelforce West at approx 31km in total and it is open to racers of all levels. If you’re not quite sure whether you are up to the level of  completing Gaelforce West? Connemara Adventure Challenge is a great way of testing yourself and your ability! Don’t forget the great FREE After Party which will be held that night in Killary Adventure Centre!!

May 19th Roundstone Bay 8k

August 18th Gaelforce West

Gaelforce West is the largest one day adventure race of its kind in the world. It is a multi-sport adventure race involving cycling, running, hiking and kayaking. The course of approximately 67km stretches from the stunning Glassilaun beach to Westport. En route there are some significant obstacles to cross, including Killary Harbour and the famous holy mountain of Croagh Patrick. It is important to note that you will get wet and dirty; you are running through bogs, along mountain paths and up Croagh Patrick! You are cycling along small country roads, a dirt track and on a small section of the N59.

These are not triathlons, marathons or a fun runs, they are adventure races!

It will test you both physically and mentally but the elation you will feel at the end when you cross the finish line will make it all worth it!
