Join us on our fascinating farm tour and see how oysters are grown over a three-year period from seed to plate. Enjoy the taste of a Connemara Oyster fresh from the waters of Ballinakill Bay. Available as a scheduled tour everyday from June at 11h00.  Pax: Min 2, Max 30

Food can evoke all our senses – taste, smell, vision and feel. A tour of the this Connemara Oyster farm truly does reach all these senses.Smell the fresh Wild Atlantic air. See the farm crew working hard in the water to grow the most perfectly formed oysters. Shuck your own oyster & take a punt at the weight of an oyster, again learning more about the work put in to create flawless oysters. And of course finish your tour with a taste of a beautiful fresh oyster! The tour lasts approximately 1 hour & goes through the whole process of how the farm brings the oysters from seeds right through to your plate. It is perfect for anyone interested in Irish culture, tradition, seafood or just loves Connemara!, as we are situated in a coastal location with stunning views on the Wild Atlantic Way. Visitors can also enjoy the fruits of the farm as they can purchase some fresh oysters to bring home with them. Our extended tours during Spring tides are special and include a walk on the seashore to the oyster beds. The tour is suitable for ages 6 years old and up and has a moderate mobility requirement. Additional dates and times available for private groups of 8 + on request.

What do I need to bring?

  • Warm clothing and rain and wind gear as weather is very changeable.
