March 16th – 18th Four Seasons Walking Festival Spring
The Spring Walking Festival takes place from Friday 16 to Sunday 18 March kicking off on Friday evening at 8.30PM with an introductory talk hosted by Michael Gibbons, where he will share with you the rich history and secrets of the Connemara Islands and Highlands:
- Saturday 17 March: Diamond Hill, Connemara National Park (a dedicated area of bog and mountain wilderness)
- Sunday 18 March: Inishbofin – Island of the White Cow

May bank holiday weekend – Leenane Walking Festival
The weekend sees walkers of all kinds taking on a variety of walks including: Mweelrea, Benchoona and Maamtrasna. New additional activities to the 2011 programme were a great success.

Special events to mark International Biodiversity will be taking place all week long and all are free:
May 19th – Guided walk starting 12 noon from Visitor centre.
May 19th – Basket making demonstration from 12 noon to 4pm in the Picnic Room.
May 20th – Guided walk starting 12 noon from Visitor Centre.
May 20th – Traditional Music from 1.30pm – 2.30pm.
May 22nd – Afternoon talk at 3pm in the Audio Visual Theatre ” Encouraging Wildlife into your Garden”.
May 23rd – Guided walk starting 12 noon from the Visitor Centre.
May 24th – Guided nature walk starting 12 noon from Visitor Centre.
May 26th – Guided walk starting 12 noon from Visitor Centre.
May 26th – Traditional Irish Dancing from 1pm – 2pm “Bernie Curley School of Dancing”.
May 27th – Guided walk starting 12 noon from Visitor Centre.
May 27th – Traditional Irish Dancing from 1pm – 2pm “Bernie Curley School of Dancing”.
May 27th – “Tree Walk & Art for Children” starting at 2.30pm from the Education Room.

May 25th – 4th June - Conamara Bog Week
Walking, music, cycling, and dancing with a hint of madness! The Conamara Walkabout – an exploration of landscape in the company of poets, painters, scientists and musicians. Also, a series of guided walks with the wonderful archaeologist and historian Michael Gibbons.

June 1st – 3rd Four Seasons Walking Festival Summer
July & August
Guided walks are held every Wednesday and Friday, starting from the Visitor Centre at 11am. The walk takes visitors off trail, across the bog visiting a megalithic tomb. As visitors are taken off trail, it is advisable to have boots suitable for wet boggy conditions. Visitors are also advised to bring rain gear. The walk takes between 1.5 – 2 hours approximately.
