Cycling routes available in Connemara
Whether you want to take our set routes with guides or not, Connemara provides the cyclist with a selection of route and/or trail options. These include hills, mountains, forests bogs, back roads and islands. Please some routes detailed below.
Tour Cycling (Pedal Bikes)
Aran Islands and more:
Traveling to the port of Rossaveal & catch the ferry to the island of Inishmore, the biggest of the Aran Islands. On Inishmore Island the highlights include: a living traditional Gaelic culture: evident in music, language, games, dance & crafts, the cliff top fort of Dun Angeus, the Seven Churches and the coast road to the west of the port village of Kilronan. Then head north into Connemara proper. There are great views towards the Twelve Bens (the 12 mountains at the centre of the Connemara National Park). Turning west ride across the peat bogs (where you can watch peat digging in progress) to Cashel and across the Bog Road to Clifden. Our journey continues through the beautiful Lough Inagh Valley to Kylemore, where you can visit Kylemore Abbey. At this point the 5 day tour returns to Clifden along the wild coast of Cleggan and Claddaghduff. The 8 day continues to Westport via Lough Mask, before seeming Aasleagh Falls, the Delphi valley and Croagh Patrick.
Connemara:
750 square miles of biking country – how and how much of it would you like to experience is entirely up to your good self. Choose from a range of bike types which will in turn dictate what routes and or trails you can explore! There are a range of options from the casual cyclist to the extreme mountain biker. Clifden and surrounds:
Clifden is a charming seaside town bursting with things to do! For the casual cyclist there are many and varied routes to follow, whether it is up the Sky Road to gaze at the vast expanse of ocean or to travel south to Ballyconneely, with its dramatic landscape interrupting superlative beaches, ideal for picnics.
Leenane and surrounds – cycling
Our cycle tours to Connemara transports you to see one of Ireland’s 7 Wonders – ‘Kylemore Abbey and Victorian walled garden’ at the very western and wild side of Ireland. We show you the most breathtaking sights and scenery Connemara has on offer. With the wild Atlantic on one side of you during the day and wild endless mountains on the other, you will feel so elated driving and cycling through this amazing place. One of only two places in Ireland where sheep have the right of way over cars on the road! In the morning and evening, you have to be careful driving as they tend to sleep on the main roads!

Cycle the Killary fjord and explore all its nooks and crannies and visit the Sheep and Wool Museum in Leenane.
